A short reflection on being the faculty advisor to Lyceum

    By P.F. Potvin

Just two short years ago, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Lyceum Literary & Fine Arts journal with a double-thick printed issue. The journal was first imagined by UM-Dearborn students who sought to honor and provide a platform for creative expression on our campus. As the faculty advisor, I’m continually inspired and encouraged by the members of the organization, the staff, and the many diverse contributors. Each semester the tradition continues with workshops, open-mics, activities, events, and the publication of the printed journal. At a time when digital words and images often zing, flash, and fade, the journal serves to root us to ourselves, to our learning, to our creativity, and to our greater human community. As we approach another semester submission deadline, please consider sending along words and images you’d like to share. Your perspective matters. We look forward to hearing from you!
